Senior Project Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead high‑visibility projects for a leading financial services organisation in New Zealand. You will shape project management practices, drive delivery excellence, and collaborate with internal experts, corporate stakeholders, and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and champion project management strategies, methodologies and tools.
• Plan, organise and run workshops, capture requirements and produce integrated project plans.
• Execute projects to approved standards, managing quality, actions and issues throughout the lifecycle.
• Coach and mentor project team members to build PM capability.
• Define resourcing needs, negotiate allocations and ensure projects are well‑resourced.
• Integrate project deliverables into business‑as‑usual functions and manage hand‑over to operational teams.
• Control budgets, track financial codes, manage change requests and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of dedicated project management experience on complex initiatives.
• Proven ability in resource capacity planning and negotiating resources with operational managers.
• Experience managing large, multi‑vendor projects (teams of 4‑20 people) involving custodians, banks, insurers, accountants and auditors.
• Strong technical understanding of investments, wholesale funds, superannuation, KiwiSaver and workplace savings.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Project.
