Senior Project Manager

About the role

Watercare is embarking on a $14 billion, 10‑year investment programme to deliver climate‑resilient water and wastewater services. The Senior Project Manager will lead large‑scale water and electrical projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage procurement, delivery, construction, commissioning, handover and close‑out of water and electrical projects.
• Oversee the handover of design and contract documents to operations teams.
• Liaise with Strategy and Planning for consents and approvals.
• Maintain strong customer‑service focus and coordinate with Service Delivery and external supply‑chain partners.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate team members.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large or complex water‑related projects or programmes.
• Ability to build relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and a high attention to engineering detail while keeping the bigger picture in view.
• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Commercial experience delivering contracts.

Required skills

• Network and transmission water‑main experience.
• Pump‑station experience.
• Switchboard knowledge (advantageous).
• Instrumentation knowledge (advantageous).
