Senior Project Manager - Construction Delivery

About the role

Watercare is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of major infrastructure projects within its Capital Delivery portfolio. You will be responsible for guiding projects from construction through to successful completion, ensuring they meet safety, quality and value expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of capital projects, overseeing design, execution and closure phases.
• Provide strong project management leadership and technical expertise across complex programmes.
• Partner closely with contractors, consultants and stakeholders to achieve high‑quality outcomes.
• Contribute to feasibility and design phases, embedding buildability, safety and value early on.
• Champion health, safety and wellbeing on all sites.
• Mentor and develop Project Managers, building capability within the Capital Delivery team.
• Drive continuous improvement and support business‑wide performance initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Engineering or equivalent).
• 10+ years’ experience managing infrastructure or large‑scale capital projects.
• Proven track record delivering projects across design and construction phases.
• Strong leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop others.
• Solid understanding of project management frameworks, financials, procurement and reporting.
• Experience working with contractors, consultants and public‑sector stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with strong planning and analytical capability.
• Experience in water or wastewater infrastructure is advantageous but not essential.
