Senior Project Manager – Capital Delivery

About the role

Watercare is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Capital Delivery to lead complex infrastructure projects that shape Auckland’s water future. Based in the Newmarket office, you will own the design delivery from concept through to the start of execution, ensuring projects are safe, on time, and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of major capital projects during the design phase.
• Manage scope, programme, budget, risks, and quality outcomes.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Oversee procurement, tendering, and contract management processes.
• Champion health, safety, and environmental best practices across all stages.
• Monitor performance, report progress, risks, and outcomes, and ensure milestones and financial targets are met.
• Drive continuous improvement, sustainability, and innovation in project delivery.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in project management, engineering, or construction.
• Relevant tertiary qualification (engineering, construction, planning, environmental or similar).
• Strong commercial acumen with budgeting, forecasting, and contract management experience.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage external delivery partners.
• Commitment to health, safety, and sustainability.
• Clear communication and influencing skills with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Professional memberships such as Engineering NZ, PMP, or PRINCE2 are advantageous.
