Senior Project Engineer - Civil

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Civil to lead key packages on a major infrastructure project in Auckland. The role combines on‑site leadership with planning, cost control and commercial oversight to ensure predictable outcomes across time, cost, quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a multi‑disciplinary site team, fostering accountability, communication and a safety‑first culture.
• Own short‑term planning by reviewing the 2‑week work plan and aligning it with the 6‑week look‑ahead and overall programme.
• Produce and maintain the 6‑week look‑ahead plan from the Primavera P6 schedule, manage weekly planning cycles and monitor a 6‑12 month strategic outlook.
• Conduct monthly critical‑path reviews, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Track project financial performance, compare actual costs to budget, and prepare end‑of‑month reporting with forecasts.
• Provide commercial and contractual oversight, manage progress claims, variations, cost recoveries and procurement reviews while ensuring compliance with quality systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading civil engineering teams on large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong ability to translate short‑term plans into long‑term project strategies.
• Excellent analytical skills for schedule optimisation and financial tracking.
• Solid understanding of commercial contracts, risk management and procurement processes.
