Senior Mechanical Engineer – Virtual Fencing Technology

About the role

eShepherd is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of next‑generation virtual fencing hardware for agriculture. You will own mechanical decisions from concept through production, ensuring robust performance in demanding field environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and mechanisms for new and existing products.
• Take ownership of designs from concept, prototyping, testing, to production release.
• Develop solutions across plastics, sheet‑metal, enclosures, and structural parts.
• Support prototyping, testing, Design‑for‑Manufacturing (DFM) reviews, and manufacturing readiness.
• Investigate in‑market product issues and lead root‑cause analysis.
• Translate customer and field feedback into product improvements.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to optimise reliability and performance.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical or product development engineering.
• Proven track record delivering physical products from concept to production.
• Hands‑on, problem‑solving mindset with a passion for building real‑world solutions.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams (electronics, firmware, manufacturing, supply chain, customer‑facing).
