Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Beca is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Industrial team in Auckland. You will lead mechanical and piping design work packages for large‑scale industrial projects across sectors such as food & beverage, minerals processing, wood & fibre, energy and water treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical and piping design, including specification and integration of equipment for production, utilities, energy, water and waste systems.
• Manage project engineering activities across office and site environments, controlling scope, cost, quality and schedule.
• Collaborate with site‑based engineering and construction teams to deliver capital projects.
• Develop and document engineering solutions that meet project and operational requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of industrial mechanical engineering experience.
• Proven experience delivering detailed mechanical designs in heavy‑industrial or processing settings.
• Understanding of site‑based construction and operational requirements.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Motivated to learn, collaborative and accountable within a team environment.

What we offer

• Full‑time permanent role (minimum 30 hours per week).
• Salary range NZD 100,000 – 140,000 per annum, based on experience.
