Senior Mechanical & Energy Modelling Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical & Energy Modelling Engineer to join our collaborative team. You will work closely with clients and project teams to deliver high‑quality, low‑carbon solutions for a variety of building types across Aotearoa.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain strong client relationships and apply commercial acumen.
• Own project or design package delivery while working under senior engineer guidance.
• Mentor junior engineers and building scientists.
• Design and document HVAC systems, produce drawings, specifications and schedules using BIM tools such as Revit and IES VE.
• Integrate energy‑efficiency, decarbonisation and low‑carbon design principles into mechanical solutions.
• Perform predictive modelling for heating and cooling loads.
• Use dynamic simulation tools to assess comfort factors (glare, daylight, overheating, natural ventilation, PMV).
• Explore thermal‑envelope strategies to optimise performance.
• Conduct compliance modelling for building codes and green‑rating systems (G7, H1, Green Star, NABERSNZ).
• Model operational energy use and benchmark associated carbon emissions.
• Prepare and deliver design reports and technical outputs.

Required profile

• 4–7 years of experience on building mechanical projects with strong standards and documentation knowledge.
• Experience supervising computational analysis in the built environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Science.
• Proficiency in Revit and Integrated Environmental Solutions Virtual Environments (IES VE).
• Strong technical capability, commercial awareness and team engagement skills.
