Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Avionics (Night Shift, 4‑day week)

About the role
Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer focused on avionics to work on both the proven Electron launcher and the upcoming Neutron medium‑lift vehicle. The position is night‑shift (3 PM – 1:30 AM) on a 4‑day work week, offering long weekends and hands‑on involvement in a fast‑paced, test‑heavy production environment.
Key responsibilities
- Own critical projects and optimise manufacturing and testing processes for avionics hardware.
- Solve cross‑disciplinary problems spanning avionics, electrical, mechanical and software systems.
- Support the transition of Neutron hardware from prototype to production, ensuring rigorous testing and operational compliance.
- Investigate and resolve non‑conformances in collaboration with production, design and engineering teams.
- Coordinate closely with technicians, mechanical engineers and avionics specialists to guarantee seamless system integration.
- Develop and implement streamlined testing procedures and manage overflow tasks effectively.
- Participate daily in production and testing activities to ensure hardware reliability for launch.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably within aerospace or high‑tech hardware production.
