Senior Lecturer in Nursing

About the role

The University of Waikato is seeking an experienced nursing academic to join its School of Nursing and Midwifery on the Hamilton campus. As a Senior Lecturer you will lead teaching, research and postgraduate supervision while contributing to the School’s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver research‑informed teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes.
• Develop and lead curriculum initiatives, including blended and online learning.
• Supervise honours, master’s and doctoral students.
• Maintain an active research programme and produce scholarly publications and conference presentations.
• Build and sustain partnerships with healthcare providers, clinical placement partners and Māori communities.
• Contribute to inter‑professional collaboration and academic service within the School.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent scholarly accreditation with a focus on Applied Science.
• Current Annual Practising Certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
• Demonstrated excellence in tertiary teaching and student supervision.
• Strong research record with evidence of scholarly outputs.
• Experience in curriculum development and innovative teaching approaches.
• Ability to build productive relationships with clinical and community partners.
• Commitment to equity, cultural safety and partnership with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
