Senior Learning Designer

About the role

The Senior Learning Designer will partner with academic teams to create authentic blended learning experiences that reflect evidence‑based design principles. Working from AUT’s City Campus, you will help shape innovative pedagogy, curriculum, and assessment across the university.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty to design and develop blended and digital learning programmes.
• Apply research‑informed instructional design methods to curriculum and assessment development.
• Lead projects that integrate innovative pedagogical approaches and cultural perspectives, including Mātauranga Māori and Pacific pedagogies.
• Support academic staff through coaching, resources, and quality assurance of learning designs.
• Manage multiple design strands and ensure timely delivery of learning solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in higher‑education learning design, curriculum development and assessment.
• Strong understanding of blended and digital learning environments.
• Demonstrated cultural capability, with knowledge of Māori and/or Pacific pedagogies highly desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively with academic staff and manage project timelines.
