Senior Java Integration Engineer – Financial Services

About the role

We are partnering with a leading New Zealand financial services organisation and an enterprise integration consultancy to modernise a critical data transformation engine. As a Senior Java Integration Engineer, you will lead the migration from legacy mappings to a high‑performance Java 17/21 Spring Boot microservices architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Legacy Extraction: Analyse existing mapping files, schemas and data structures to capture validation and transformation rules.
• Modern Engineering: Design and develop clean, scalable Java microservices to replace legacy transformation flows.
• Data Parsing: Re‑implement complex parsing and mapping for diverse financial, flat‑file and non‑standard banking data formats.
• Rigorous Testing: Ensure byte‑for‑byte data integrity between legacy outputs and new Java components.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Hands‑on expertise in enterprise integration frameworks such as Apache Camel, Spring Integration or MuleSoft.
• Deep knowledge of complex data parsing, serialization and mapping techniques.
• Background in banking/financial messaging standards (ISO 20022, SWIFT MT/MX) or proven ability to reverse‑engineer legacy systems.
