Senior iOS Mobile Engineer

About the role

Air New Zealand is accelerating its digital transformation and needs a senior iOS engineer to shape mobile experiences for millions of travelers. You will lead the design and delivery of high‑quality iOS applications that make travel simpler, faster, and more enjoyable.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust iOS apps using Swift and SwiftUI at scale.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to turn concepts into intuitive solutions.
• Improve performance, reliability, and maintainability, delivering measurable speed and stability gains.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs and performance issues.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, ensuring secure and future‑ready mobile platforms.
• Champion modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and support other mobile engineers, fostering a strong engineering culture.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of iOS development experience, preferably in large‑scale environments.
• Deep expertise in Swift and SwiftUI with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
• Experience with backend‑for‑frontend patterns; exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of mobile architecture, design patterns, and Apple UI guidelines.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
• Proven problem‑solving ability in fast‑paced, evolving environments.
• Experience using AI tooling to enhance development workflows.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience.
