Senior Full Stack Software Engineer – 6‑Month Remote Contract

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a product‑led SaaS company that provides construction asset and fleet tracking solutions. This is a six‑month contract position, fully remote, working with an international team that is expanding into New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement new features for a connected IoT platform that manages equipment and asset data.
• Write clean, reliable, and performant code in JavaScript/Node.js and related technologies.
• Test and validate your work to meet quality standards before release.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and QA to deliver consistent outcomes.
• Mentor less‑experienced developers through code reviews and practical support.
• Contribute to system design, API architecture, and database performance optimisation.
• Participate in planning sessions and help shape future product direction.
• Maintain clear documentation to support ongoing development.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software development experience in full‑stack environments.
• Strong problem‑solving ability across complex systems.
• Clear communication skills and experience working in distributed teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.

• JavaScript, Node.js, HTML, CSS
• C# and .NET or Python (with intent to work in a Node.js stack)
• SQL and exposure to NoSQL databases
• Microservices architecture
• Docker and container‑based deployment
• AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC)
• RabbitMQ and large‑scale data handling
