Senior Financial Accountant

About the role

Asteron Life is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to support statutory, regulatory and financial reporting during a major New Zealand integration programme. The role sits within the Financial Reporting team and focuses on year‑end financial statements, NOHC/Group reporting and IFRS 17 technical accounting. This is a fixed‑term backfill offering strong exposure to transformation initiatives and senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Support month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare financial statements and reporting packs.
• Deliver statutory and regulatory reporting, including RBNZ requirements.
• Contribute to IFRS 17 reporting and technical accounting tasks.
• Partner with auditors, actuarial teams and Group finance.
• Drive improvements in reporting processes and internal controls.

Required profile

• CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent).
• 6–10 years experience in financial reporting or audit.
• Strong statutory and year‑end reporting experience.
• Exposure to regulatory reporting (preferred).
• Insurance or financial services background (desirable).
• Experience with IFRS 17 or complex accounting (advantageous).
• Detail‑focused, collaborative and able to meet tight deadlines.
