Senior Financial Accountant

About the role

AS Colour is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to own the financial operations of its New Zealand entity. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will manage month‑end reporting, statutory compliance, tax obligations, payroll support and the annual audit, providing a broad exposure across the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the month‑end close process, including GL reconciliations and preparation of management reports.
• Review the monthly P&L and provide commentary for decision‑making.
• Compile the annual cost budget in collaboration with department heads.
• Prepare and lodge monthly GST and quarterly FBT returns, ensuring compliance with NZ tax law.
• Maintain compliance with NZ IFRS and other statutory requirements.
• Review and approve supplier invoices in the Esker AP system.
• Manage the fixed‑asset register in VIA, handling depreciation, disposals and GL reconciliation.
• Support payroll processing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Own the end‑to‑end annual audit, coordinating with external auditors and managing audit queries.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 3 + years of commercial accounting experience, preferably with Big 4 exposure.
• Strong technical aptitude and commercial curiosity.
• Self‑starter capable of managing workload independently while collaborating with the wider team.
