Senior Design Engineer

About the role

ConsultANZ is recruiting a Senior Design Engineer to join a leading civil infrastructure company in New Zealand. The role focuses on delivering complex temporary works and structural designs for major infrastructure projects, working closely with an experienced engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop structural and temporary works designs for civil infrastructure projects.
• Design formwork, falsework, shoring and support systems.
• Apply constructability principles and innovative construction methods to improve safety, efficiency and cost outcomes.
• Prepare engineering calculations, design drawings and technical documentation to a high standard.
• Collaborate with site and project teams to ensure designs are practical, safe and buildable.
• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams and report to senior engineering leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years experience as a Structural Design Engineer.
• Proven experience in Temporary Works Engineering on civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of construction practices and constructability principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
