Senior Cybersecurity Consultant

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Cybersecurity Consultant to lead high‑impact engagements for leading organisations across New Zealand. You will work independently, earn client trust quickly, and combine strategic thinking with deep technical expertise to improve security postures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end consulting engagements, delivering outcomes on time and within budget.
• Develop and present tailored cybersecurity strategies, roadmaps and governance frameworks.
• Conduct audits and assessments across multiple domains and industries.
• Manage organisational and system‑level risk, helping clients prioritise actions.
• Build and test security programmes, including assurance, incident management and awareness.
• Develop practical policies and compliance programmes that endure.
• Engage senior leaders, technical specialists and workshop participants, and mentor junior colleagues.

Required profile

• Extensive experience across the full cybersecurity discipline, from governance to operations.
• Proven consulting background with a reputation for independent delivery and client trust.
• Deep knowledge of international frameworks such as NIST CSFv2, NIST SP800‑53, ISO 27001/27002/27005, IEC 62443, PCI‑DSS, SOC2 Type I/II and ASD Essential 8.
• Familiarity with New Zealand and Australian guidance (NZ PSR, NCSC Minimum Cyber Security Standards, HISO 10029/HISF, NZ ISM, AU ISM, NZ Privacy Act 2020).
• Hands‑on PCI‑DSS experience, including scoping, SAQ selection and issuer/processor relationship management.
