Senior Cyber Security Team Lead

About the role

NTT DATA is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Team Lead to manage a team of 10 security engineers and deliver high‑value, business‑critical cyber security services to a portfolio of managed‑service clients across New Zealand. The role combines people leadership with hands‑on technical oversight to ensure reliable, resilient, and secure IT operations for clients.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary cyber security advisor for managed‑service clients, aligning security services to business and risk objectives.
• Lead client governance, risk discussions and strategic security initiatives to drive measurable outcomes.
• Direct cyber security operations, incident response and service delivery across the managed‑service portfolio.
• Provide expert guidance on cyber security risks, vulnerabilities, controls and remediation strategies.
• Drive service innovation, automation and continual improvement to enhance security effectiveness.
• Support consulting engagements, solution development and pre‑sales opportunities within the cyber security practice.
• Lead major security incidents and stakeholder communications, ensuring effective response and lessons learned.
• Develop and coach a high‑performing team of security professionals, building capability and fostering a client‑centric culture.

Required profile

• Leadership experience building and developing high‑performing cyber security teams.
• Consultative mindset with the ability to act as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders.
• Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder‑engagement skills, from technical specialists to executives.
• Commercial awareness and ability to balance client outcomes, service performance and business objectives.
• Experience leading security operations, governance and continual‑improvement initiatives.
• Proactive, outcome‑focused approach to management.
