Senior Cyber Security Team Lead

About the role

NTT DATA is looking for a Senior Cyber Security Team Lead to manage a team of ten security engineers and deliver high‑value, business‑critical cyber security services to a diverse client base across New Zealand. The role combines people leadership with hands‑on service delivery, ensuring managed security services meet the highest standards of reliability and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary cyber security advisor for managed‑service clients, aligning security services with business and risk objectives.
• Lead client governance, risk discussions and strategic security initiatives to achieve measurable outcomes.
• Direct cyber security operations, incident response and service delivery across a portfolio of managed‑service clients.
• Provide expert guidance on risks, vulnerabilities, controls and remediation strategies.
• Drive service innovation, automation and continual improvement to enhance security effectiveness.
• Support consulting engagements, solution development and pre‑sales opportunities within the cyber security practice.
• Lead major security incidents, manage stakeholder communications and capture lessons learned.
• Develop and coach a high‑performing security team, fostering a client‑centric culture.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience building and developing high‑performing cyber security teams.
• Consultative mindset with the ability to act as a trusted advisor to clients and senior stakeholders.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging technical specialists to executives.
• Commercial awareness and ability to balance client outcomes, service performance and business objectives.
• Experience leading security operations, governance and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
