Senior Communications Advisor – Programmes

About the role

The Senior Communications Advisor – Programmes will sit at the centre of Watercare’s major infrastructure programmes, turning complex technical information into clear, engaging narratives. You will partner with programme managers, engineers and external partners to shape communications from concept through delivery, ensuring stakeholders understand and support the projects.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with programme leaders and technical experts to translate complex projects into clear, engaging communications.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, consultants and community partners.
• Develop and deliver integrated communications strategies aligned with programme milestones.
• Create high‑quality content for media, digital, social and video channels.
• Lead programme storytelling, highlighting people, partnerships and outcomes.
• Provide trusted advice to ensure communications are accurate, on‑brand and aligned with reputation management goals.

Required profile

• Digital native with confidence creating content for multiple platforms and audiences.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling capability across a range of formats.
• Experience delivering integrated, multi‑channel communications.
• Strategic thinker with a hands‑on, delivery‑focused approach.
• Collaborative and flexible in a fast‑paced, matrix environment.
• Experience working with technical or infrastructure‑focused teams, simplifying complex information.
