Senior Change Communications Advisor – 12‑month Fixed Term

About the role

NZ Customs is seeking a Senior Change Communications Advisor on a 12‑month fixed‑term or secondment basis in Wellington. You will translate complex organisational change into clear, engaging communication that helps staff understand, prepare for and adopt new ways of working.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver change communication plans aligned with programme objectives and timelines.
• Convert complex programme information into concise messages for diverse audiences.
• Provide trusted advice to project leaders, managers and senior stakeholders on communication approaches.
• Create high‑quality materials such as staff announcements, leader briefings, FAQs, presentations, talking points, intranet content and implementation updates.
• Build strong relationships across programmes and business areas to support effective engagement throughout the change journey.

• Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, journalism, change management or equivalent experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted security clearance.
