Senior Capital Works Operator – Queenstown

About the role

The Senior Capital Works Operator will lead capital works projects for Veolia in Queenstown, ensuring the company meets its contractual and legislative obligations. This role combines hands‑on trade expertise with project management to keep water and wastewater infrastructure operating safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the delegated capital works team on‑site to deliver projects safely, efficiently and on schedule.
• Execute all phases of capital works projects from establishment through completion.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and enforce safety measures to maintain a zero‑harm environment.
• Monitor progress against milestones and KPIs, identifying and mitigating potential delays.
• Coordinate with Team Lead, contractors and internal departments to ensure seamless execution and clear communication.
• Maintain accurate on‑site documentation, including safety records and compliance paperwork.

Required profile

• Combination of relevant education, training and hands‑on trade experience.
• Experience in the water and/or wastewater industry is preferred.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues and contractors.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to fault‑find on 3‑waters infrastructure.
