Senior Business Analyst

About the role

The Senior Business Analyst will join ANZ’s Proactive Risk Manager (PRM) technology team in Wellington, focusing on enhancing the bank’s fraud detection and prevention capabilities. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to define, analyse and validate business requirements for fraud‑related transactions and supporting systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for fraud detection and related systems.
• Translate business needs into functional and non‑functional specifications and ensure accurate implementation with development teams.
• Identify gaps, opportunities and potential issues in technology and business processes, driving proactive change.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation such as use cases, process flows, data models and story maps.
• Support compliance documentation updates, including disaster recovery, solution intents, system support and IAM.
• Participate in all testing phases to verify that solutions meet business expectations.
• Provide guidance on industry best practices, regulatory requirements and the New Zealand card and digital transaction processing landscape.
• Liaise with production support to analyse and resolve production incidents.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst in a banking or financial services environment, preferably with a focus on fraud detection.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, able to work with internal teams, external vendors and production support.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a proactive attitude.
• Knowledge of New Zealand domestic card and digital transaction processing regulations.
• Ability to produce clear, comprehensive documentation and support testing activities.
