Senior Back End Software Engineer

About the role

Xe is rebuilding the platform layer that powers cross‑border payments for corporate and consumer clients. As a Senior Back End Software Engineer you will own end‑to‑end problems, from API design and data modeling to production reliability and launch, using AI‑assisted tools throughout the development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services that move money and manage multi‑currency balances across onboarding, KYC/KYB, payment initiation, FX, settlement and related domains.
• Lead cross‑functional delivery with product, compliance and operations, framing problems through to launch.
• Own partner integration and settlement infrastructure for your domain.
• Ensure production health: reliability, observability, on‑call duties and incident response.
• Conduct design reviews, set technical direction, and mentor mid‑level engineers.
• Modernize legacy services using agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) alongside architects.

Required profile

• 6‑10+ years of experience building production backend services end‑to‑end.
• Strong backend proficiency in C#/.NET (or comparable OOP languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go).
• Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.
• Hands‑on experience deploying on AWS, including CI/CD pipelines and services like SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS and Lambda.
• Proven system design and architecture skills for micro‑services and event‑driven patterns.
• Background in payments, foreign‑exchange or other regulated industries.
• Demonstrated technical leadership: mentoring, design reviews and architectural decisions.
