Senior Back End Software Engineer

About the role

Xe is rebuilding the platform layer that powers cross‑border payments for corporate and consumer clients. As a Senior Back End Software Engineer you will own end‑to‑end solutions that move money, design APIs, model data, and ensure production reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services handling onboarding, KYC/KYB, payment initiation, FX, settlement and balance management.
• Lead cross‑functional delivery with product, compliance and operations from problem definition through launch.
• Own production health for your domain, including observability, on‑call rotation and incident response.
• Drive architecture decisions, conduct design reviews and mentor mid‑level engineers.
• Modernize legacy services using agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and collaborate with architects on the new stack.

Required profile

• 6‑10+ years of experience building production backend services end‑to‑end.
• Strong system design experience with service‑oriented, micro‑services or event‑driven architectures.
• Track record of technical leadership, mentoring and making architecture decisions.
• Experience in payments, foreign‑exchange or other regulated industries is a plus.

Required skills

• C# / .NET (preferred) or other OOP languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go.
• SQL and relational database fundamentals.
• AWS services: SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, Lambda.
• CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices.
• Agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) used daily.
• Testing frameworks and test automation.
