Senior Back End Software Engineer

About the role

Xe is rebuilding the platform layer behind cross‑border payments for corporate and consumer clients. We are looking for a senior back‑end engineer who will own end‑to‑end problems, from API design and data modeling to service implementation, reliability, and launch.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own backend services that move money and manage multi‑currency balances across onboarding, KYC/KYB, payment initiation, FX, settlement, and related domains.
• Lead cross‑functional delivery with product, compliance, and operations teams from problem framing through launch.
• Build partner integrations and settlement infrastructure required by your domain.
• Own production health, including reliability, observability, on‑call duties, and incident response.
• Conduct design reviews, set technical direction, and mentor mid‑level engineers.
• Use agentic coding tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) daily across the software development lifecycle and help modernize legacy services.

Required profile

• 6‑10+ years of experience building production backend services end‑to‑end.
• Strong proficiency in C#/.NET (or comparable OOP languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go).
• Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services (SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, Lambda) and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated system design and architecture expertise, especially with microservices and event‑driven patterns.
• Experience in payments, foreign‑exchange, or other regulated industries.
• Proven technical leadership: mentoring, design reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
