Senior Azure Integration Engineer (6‑month contract)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Azure Integration Engineer to join a large, complex enterprise organisation on a six‑month contract. Based in Wellington, you will drive high‑priority API development, platform integration and support the end‑to‑end test cycle for critical business systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy and support a suite of core integration APIs.
• Develop high‑performance asynchronous connectivity components.
• Establish secure connections across legacy databases, case‑management systems and customer‑facing portals.
• Configure operational dashboards to monitor API health and performance.
• Provide hyper‑care and Early Life Support for the Azure APIM environment after go‑live.

Required profile

• Hands‑on expertise with Azure API Management, Functions, Logic Apps and Service Bus.
• Proven experience architecting secure APIs and asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate modern Azure services with complex legacy back‑ends.
• Track record of collaborating with QA teams to resolve validation defects during test cycles.
• Experience working within New Zealand large‑enterprise or public‑sector environments is highly advantageous.
