Senior Automation Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Automation Engineer in ANZ's Technology Operations, you will lead the design, implementation and quality assurance of hybrid cloud solutions. You will enable application teams to adopt a cloud‑native platform, build infrastructure as code, and deliver CI/CD pipelines that support production releases.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement hybrid cloud services across on‑prem private cloud and public cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code assets and CI/CD pipelines.
• Automate security and governance controls for cloud workloads.
• Provide support for production releases and ongoing operations.
• Identify and mitigate delivery, security and operational risks.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand value and risk of cloud services.
• Maintain expertise in both traditional on‑prem technologies (virtualisation, Windows AD, Group Policy, Linux) and public cloud platforms.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering hybrid cloud solutions.
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and risk management.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and communicate technical concepts.
• Senior‑level expertise with a track record of autonomous delivery.

Required skills

• Puppet (or similar configuration‑management tool)
• Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation)
• CI/CD pipeline creation (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI)
• Public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Virtualisation technologies
• Windows Active Directory and Group Policy
• Linux system administration
