Senior Associate – Property, Commercial & Family Law

About the role

Best Practice Lawyers is seeking a Senior Associate to manage a genuine senior caseload across property, commercial, relationship property, trusts, and family law. You will work from either the Foxton or Waikanae office, or a mix of both, handling client matters from instruction through to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for residential and rural property transactions, subdivisions, cross‑lease conversions and refinancing.
• Manage commercial and business matters including sales, purchases, leases and advisory work for local operators.
• Handle relationship property, separation, and family law matters with care and directness.
• Prepare trusts, wills, enduring powers of attorney and administer estates.
• Provide support for dispute resolution and litigation matters as they arise.
• Inherit an active client file set from day one and develop your own client base over time.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with several years of experience in the listed practice areas.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions on case management and maintain high‑quality client service.
• Strong organisational skills and the capacity to balance a varied workload without volume pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency in New Zealand property and commercial law procedures.
• Experience with relationship property, trusts, wills and family law matters.
• Competence in dispute resolution and basic litigation processes.
