Senior Associate – ESG Assurance

About the role

PwC New Zealand is seeking a Senior Associate to join its ESG Reporting & Assurance team. You will help clients understand and report the impact of sustainability on their business while contributing to a more resilient and responsible economy.

Key responsibilities

• Work with clients reporting under frameworks such as the Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards and the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards, applying the GHG Protocol and PCAF measurement standards.
• Support engagement teams as a subject‑matter expert delivering limited and reasonable assurance engagements in line with ISAE (NZ) 3000/3410 and ISSA (NZ) 5000.
• Build strong relationships with clients and PwC’s global sustainability experts.
• Monitor emerging trends and challenges in sustainability reporting, collaborating with auditors and experts to devise pragmatic solutions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience at a large global audit or consulting firm focused on greenhouse‑gas emissions and sustainability reporting.
• Relevant bachelor’s degree in accounting, sustainability or a closely related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong interest in developing expertise in sustainability reporting and the ability to work independently on technical, complex matters.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the GHG Protocol.
• Familiarity with PCAF measurement standards.
• Knowledge of Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards and Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards.
• Experience applying ISAE (NZ) 3000/3410 and ISSA (NZ) 5000 assurance standards.
