Senior Advisor People & Capability

About the role

The Senior Advisor People & Capability will join the People and Capability team within Corporate Services at the Environmental Protection Authority in Wellington. Working on‑site with flexible arrangements, you will act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, providing expert HR advice and driving organisational development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with leaders to enhance capability, performance and employee engagement.
• Provide expert advice on employment relations and complex people issues.
• Lead or support organisational change, workforce planning and talent management projects.
• Deliver and contribute to People & Capability initiatives and projects.
• Coach leaders to build confidence and self‑sufficiency in HR matters.
• Ensure HR practices comply with legislation and best practice.

Required profile

• 5+ years of broad HR generalist experience, preferably in the public sector.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment law and HR best practice.
• Proven experience coaching and influencing people leaders.
• Experience managing employment relations issues end‑to‑end.
• Confidence working in complex or changing environments.
• Excellent communication, judgement and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Experience with HR information systems, e.g., SuccessFactors.
• Korn Ferry job evaluation methodology or accreditation.
