Senior Advisor, Health and Safety

About the role
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is seeking a Senior Advisor, Health and Safety to lead proactive, risk‑based health, safety and wellbeing initiatives across the organisation. Based in Christchurch or Queenstown, you will shape safety strategy, influence leadership capability and embed a strong safety culture.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic, evidence‑based advice on all health and safety matters.
- Design, deliver and evaluate strategic H&S initiatives aligned with organisational objectives.
- Lead incident investigations and manage follow‑up actions.
- Use data, insights and reporting to influence decision‑making and cultural change.
- Partner with People and Capability teams to integrate wellbeing and safety.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions and communications to build capability at all levels.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years’ health and safety experience, including at least 2 years in a senior advisory role.
- Deep knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation, standards and best practice.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence at all organisational levels.
- Strong analytical, communication and coaching abilities.
- Full NZ driver’s licence.
- Tertiary or postgraduate qualification in Health and Safety (desirable).
