Senior Advisor, Engagement

About the role

The Senior Advisor, Engagement will join Te Poutāhū’s Curriculum Centre in Wellington to lead strategic communication and stakeholder engagement for curriculum transformation initiatives. This role works closely with the Lead Advisor Engagement and partners across the Ministry to ensure clear, culturally responsive messaging that supports equitable outcomes for learners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engagement strategies that support curriculum change.
• Coordinate engagement activities, communication channels and feedback mechanisms.
• Build and maintain relationships with diverse communities, peak bodies and sector leaders.
• Produce communications such as newsletters, presentations and information packs that facilitate change management.
• Provide expert advice on media, messaging and risk management aligned with organisational priorities.
• Collaborate across the Ministry to ensure integrated, consistent narratives in all communications.

Required profile

• Self‑starter with proven experience in strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.
• Deep understanding of Aotearoa’s diverse communities and ability to engage in culturally responsive ways.
• Strong writing, planning and advisory capabilities, able to influence senior leaders.
• Experience supporting change initiatives and delivering communications that drive understanding and action.
• Collaborative mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Willingness to adhere to Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
