Senior Advisor, Communications (Change & Engagement)

About the role

Te Au Reka is a transformational programme modernising access to justice across New Zealand. As a Senior Advisor, Communications (Change & Engagement) you will lead the design and delivery of clear, audience‑centred communications that enable staff and stakeholders to understand, prepare for, and adopt new ways of working.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute end‑to‑end change communications plans aligned with programme milestones.
• Create and maintain consistent messaging frameworks that drive understanding, readiness and adoption.
• Translate complex technical and legal information into concise, audience‑focused communications.
• Produce high‑quality materials such as staff updates, leader briefing packs, FAQs, intranet content, guidance documents and engagement collateral.
• Partner with workstream leaders, senior executives and external bodies (e.g., New Zealand Law Society) to shape narratives and distribute content.
• Provide trusted advice, talking points and presentation support to senior leaders.
• Design communications that build awareness, encourage adoption and sustain engagement throughout the change journey.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic communications and change management, preferably in the public or justice sector.
• Strong ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
• Hands‑on approach, capable of moving from strategy through to execution.
• Excellent stakeholder‑management skills and experience working with senior leaders.
