Senior Accountant – Subsidiaries (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to provide one‑year fixed‑term parental‑leave cover for our subsidiaries finance function at Auckland University of Technology. The role will manage end‑to‑end accounting, ensure accurate reporting and support strategic decision‑making across multiple entities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts and board reports for each subsidiary.
• Manage external audits and coordinate with banks and fund managers.
• Support the development and monitoring of annual budgets.
• Maintain the integrity of financial data and ensure compliance with reporting standards.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert for the university’s financial systems.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives and project evaluations.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent) with at least 5 years of experience in subsidiary accounting.
• Strong technical accounting expertise and a flexible, digitally‑adept mindset.
• Ability to work in a fast‑moving, complex environment while exercising sound judgement.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
