Senior Accountant (Business Advisory)

About the role

BDO is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Business Advisory team in Auckland. You will work with a diverse portfolio of clients, providing accounting, tax and advisory services that help them achieve their financial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements in line with accounting standards.
• Deliver management reports, budgeting, cash‑flow forecasts and performance analysis.
• Prepare tax returns and identify planning or restructuring opportunities.
• Provide practical business advice to support client growth and strategy.
• Manage client engagements, monitor progress and maintain strong relationships.
• Assist with trust matters, Companies Office filings and accounting software implementations.
• Support and mentor junior team members through coaching and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• 3‑4+ years of experience in Business Advisory services within a CA environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CAANZ or ACCA qualification (or nearing completion).
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Mandarin.
• Motivated, commercially‑minded professional ready to take the next career step.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero.
• Proficiency with MYOB.
• Experience using cloud‑based accounting systems.
