Security Officer (2IC) – Full‑time, Invercargill

About the role

We are looking for a professional Security Officer to act as the second‑in‑command (2IC) at a busy shopping centre in Invercargill. The role combines routine patrols, incident response and a customer‑facing presence while supporting the Security Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols to protect people, property and assets.
• Lead and coordinate the security team when the supervisor is absent.
• Provide a visible, approachable security presence for shoppers and tenants.
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, incidents and assistance requests.
• Identify risks, assess situations and act in line with established procedures.
• Follow all site and company security protocols.
• Complete accurate incident reports and maintain records.

Required profile

• Valid Security License.
• Current First Aid certification.
• Certificate of Approval (COA) required.
• Previous security experience, preferably in retail.
• Availability for day, night, weekday and weekend shifts.
• Good physical fitness for patrol duties.
• Reliable, punctual work history and full New Zealand working rights.
