Security Architect

About the role

Southern Cross Health Insurance is seeking a senior Security Architect to embed security, resilience and trust into its technology portfolio. Reporting to the Practice Lead of the Security team, you will influence how secure solutions are designed and built across new initiatives and legacy modernisation.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with product, platform, data and engineering teams to integrate security early in the development lifecycle.
• Review designs, integrations, data flows and identity models, identify risks and recommend proportionate mitigations.
• Develop reusable security patterns, guardrails and decision records to enable consistent delivery.
• Assess emerging risk areas such as AI‑enabled capabilities, supply‑chain security and identity threats.
• Advise technology and delivery leaders on trade‑offs, remediation priorities and residual risk.
• Coach engineers and delivery teams to recognise common security patterns, failure modes and attacker behaviours.

Required profile

• Senior‑level technical experience with hands‑on security architecture.
• Proven ability to influence design decisions and communicate security concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Broad understanding of security across multiple platforms and initiatives.
• Comfort working in a fast‑moving, high‑impact environment.
