About the role

Join LIC’s Herd Test depot in Islington, Christchurch as a Seasonal Sample Processing Operator. You will work with automated equipment to process milk samples collected from dairy herds, ensuring that test results are accurate and delivered promptly to our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Operate automated lab equipment to process herd test milk samples.
• Label, track, and record sample data with a focus on accuracy.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to hygiene standards.
• Assist with sample intake, preparation, and storage.
• Support the team during peak periods by working rotational day and evening shifts, including Saturdays.

Required profile

• A ‘can‑do’ attitude and willingness to learn new tasks.
• Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Motivated, punctual, and able to manage time effectively.
• Attention to detail and reasonable physical fitness for lifting and standing.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts during the peak season.

Required skills

• Automated lab equipment operation.
• Sample handling and data entry.
