Seasonal Sample Processing Operator

About the role

LIC is seeking Seasonal Sample Processing Operators to join its Herd Testing team. The role involves handling dairy herd test milk samples in a laboratory environment using automated equipment, ensuring accurate and timely results for farmers across New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor automated sample processing machinery.
• Load, unload and label milk samples according to standard procedures.
• Maintain data integrity by recording test results accurately.
• Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic troubleshooting.
• Adhere to health, safety and biosecurity protocols.

Required profile

• Positive “can‑do” attitude and willingness to learn.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliability, punctuality and strong time‑management.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Reasonable physical fitness for lifting and standing.

Required skills

• Operation of automated sample processing equipment.
• Basic laboratory sample handling techniques.
