Risk & Assurance Advisor

About the role

The Risk & Assurance Advisor will join AUT’s Corporate Governance directorate to support proactive risk management, assurance activities and continuous improvement across the university. Reporting to the Senior Risk Manager, you will help embed a strong risk‑aware culture and provide practical mitigation advice.

Key responsibilities

• Support AUT’s risk management framework and its ongoing development.
• Assist with operational risk identification, assessment and mitigation advice.
• Contribute to assurance reviews, reporting and follow‑up actions.
• Promote and grow a risk‑assurance culture throughout the university community.

Required profile

• Professional staff member with experience in risk management, assurance or related governance functions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders, council members and diverse stakeholders.
• Commitment to AUT’s values of Pono, Tika and Aroha and to fostering an inclusive environment.
