Ringa Haapai Service Representative – Library Support

About the role

The Ringa Haapai Service Representative joins the Hamilton City Libraries team at the Central Library. This role combines front‑of‑house library support with community programme delivery in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Issue books, process returns, and shelve items as part of core library operations.
• Assist patrons with technology use for learning, job searching, and staying connected.
• Plan and run community programmes and events, including story‑time, coding classes, and maker‑space activities.
• Help visitors locate hard‑to‑find information, genealogy resources, interest groups, and heritage material.
• Provide reading recommendations and respond to customer queries.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a customer‑service environment, dealing with a diverse community.
• Passion for delivering children’s programmes and leading events (library experience is a plus).
• Positive, welcoming attitude with the ability to create an inclusive atmosphere.
• Comfortable handling cash transactions and using a computer.
