Restaurant Manager – Modern Teppanyaki Venue

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Restaurant Manager to lead Kureta, a modern Teppanyaki concept located in the JW Marriott Auckland. The role combines operational oversight with a focus on delivering an immersive, omakase‑style dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day front‑of‑house operations, ensuring high standards of service and guest satisfaction.
• Collaborate with the Chef de Cuisine/Head Chef to develop and refine the menu, controlling food costs and profitability.
• Recruit, train, mentor and schedule front‑of‑house staff, fostering a motivated and cohesive team.
• Manage inventory, ordering and supplier relationships for locally sourced ingredients.
• Drive marketing initiatives and promotional activities to increase footfall and brand awareness.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety and hospitality regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum two years experience managing a busy restaurant or similar hospitality venue.
• Fluency in Japanese (speaking, reading and writing) is highly advantageous.
• Strong organisational skills, punctuality and reliability.
• Ability to work a 7‑day rotating roster, including weekdays and weekends.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
