Reliability Engineer

About the role

OJI Fibre Solutions is seeking a Reliability Engineer to lead the predictive and preventative maintenance programme at its Mangere Bridge manufacturing site. You will work closely with production, engineering and external partners to eliminate equipment failures and improve overall plant reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Review and optimise preventative and predictive maintenance schedules to improve plant reliability.
• Reduce unplanned downtime through reliability‑centred maintenance, data collection and risk‑based inspections.
• Lead root‑cause analysis (RCA) investigations on major breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
• Train and mentor maintenance and production staff in reliability techniques.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to design continuous‑improvement projects for equipment and processes.
• Manage relationships with suppliers and contractors and support the site’s health & safety culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience improving machinery reliability in a high‑speed manufacturing environment.
• Hands‑on knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulic systems and engineering methods.
• Strong health‑and‑safety awareness, including permit‑to‑work, LOTO and machine guarding.
• Advanced Trade Certification and/or NZCE, or a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Formal training in Lean principles and experience with RCA best practices.
• Project‑management experience and familiarity with CMMS (e.g., MEX, SAP).
