Regulatory Affairs Counsel

About the role
SkyCity is seeking a Regulatory Affairs Counsel to join its fast‑paced, high‑profile environment. Reporting to the General Manager – Regulatory & Policy Affairs, you will work closely with the in‑house Legal, Risk and Corporate Affairs teams and senior leaders across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Provide trusted legal and regulatory advice across all SkyCity operations.
- Monitor, interpret and communicate new legislation and regulatory developments.
- Support senior leaders in making commercially smart, compliant decisions.
- Lead regulatory submissions, licensing applications and key communications.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators and internal stakeholders.
- Identify risks proactively and drive compliance across a complex regulatory landscape.
Required profile
- LLB degree and admission to practice law in New Zealand.
- Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in regulatory, legal or compliance roles.
- Strategic mindset with ability to navigate evolving issues.
- Strong stakeholder management – able to influence, collaborate and build trust at all levels.
- Capability to translate legislation into practical, business‑friendly advice.
- Proactive, solutions‑focused approach with great attention to detail.
