Registered Nurse – Ward (McAuley/HDU & Callaghan)

About the role

Mercy Hospital Dunedin is seeking Registered Nurses to join its inpatient service on two ward locations – McAuley/HDU (7‑day ward) and Callaghan (5‑day ward). The role involves delivering high‑quality care to patients across general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedic, cardiology and high‑dependency settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide optimum patient care in line with Mercy Hospital’s purpose and values.
• Practice according to the Domains of Competence for Registered Nurses.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple tasks safely.
• Maintain a current Nursing Council of New Zealand practising certificate.

Required profile

• Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current practising certificate.
• Previous experience in general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedic, cardiology/cardiac specialties or a high‑dependency unit.
• Effective interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Computer literacy and willingness to keep nursing skills up‑to‑date.
• Self‑motivation, professionalism and a proactive, flexible attitude.
• Proof of vaccination history as required by Mercy Hospital.
