Registered Nurse – Theatre (0.8–1.0 FTE)

About the role

Southern Cross Christchurch Hospital is seeking a passionate Registered Nurse to join its high‑performing Theatre team. Working in one of New Zealand’s most advanced digital operating environments, you will support a diverse caseload that includes orthopaedic, spinal, neurosurgical and robotic procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Provide peri‑operative nursing care for patients undergoing elective and complex surgeries.
• Scrub and circulate in orthopaedic theatre, ensuring strict aseptic technique.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary staff to deliver safe, seamless care.
• Operate and maintain advanced digital theatre equipment and robotic surgery platforms.
• Document patient care accurately using the Peri‑operative Data Recording Programme (PDRP).

Required profile

• Current NZ Registered Nurse practising certificate.
• 2–3 years experience in orthopaedic theatre nursing, including both scrubbing and circulating.
• Proficient or expert level in PDRP (or actively working towards it).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to stay composed under pressure.
