Registered Nurse – Telehealth Helpline (Remote/Onsite)

About the role

PlunketLine is a 24/7 telehealth helpline that supports families with children under five. As a Registered Nurse you will provide clinical advice and parenting support via phone, chat and virtual consults, working either from one of our Auckland or Wellington call centres or remotely from anywhere in New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls, chats and video consults related to child health, nutrition, sleep and acute concerns such as vomiting, fever, burns, etc.
• Conduct clinical assessments, apply nursing judgement and deliver evidence‑based advice to callers.
• Document interactions accurately in the electronic system and follow escalation protocols when needed.
• Participate in a rotating 2‑week roster covering mornings, evenings and weekends (minimum 0.6 FTE).
• Collaborate with Clinical Leaders and other team members for on‑call support and continuous learning.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Nurse in New Zealand.
• Experience in paediatrics, emergency or urgent care settings.
• Strong listening, assessment and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, remote environment while maintaining confidentiality.
• Reliable high‑speed fibre internet and a dedicated, uninterrupted workspace.

Required skills

• Proficiency with multiple computer systems and high level of computer literacy.
