Registered Nurse – Telehealth Helpline (0.6 FTE)

About the role

PlunketLine is a free 24/7 telehealth helpline that supports families with children under five. As a Registered Nurse you will provide clinical advice, triage calls and guide caregivers through everyday parenting and urgent health concerns.

Key responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls covering a range of paediatric health topics, from nutrition and sleep to acute issues such as vomiting, fever, burns and infections.
• Conduct clinical assessments, apply nursing judgement and deliver evidence‑based advice while maintaining caller confidentiality.
• Document interactions accurately in multiple computer systems and follow up on escalations as needed.
• Work a mix of morning, evening and weekend shifts, either from a call‑centre in Auckland/Wellington or remotely with a reliable fibre connection.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Nurse in New Zealand.
• Experience in paediatrics, emergency or urgent care.
• Strong listening, assessment and compassionate communication skills.
• Resilience and the ability to think quickly in a dynamic environment.
• Comfortable using multiple digital systems and maintaining high computer literacy.
